Belarus:
Received 70% of the radioactive fallout from the Chernobyl Nuclear Plant Disaster.

Lives with the fact that scientists report that their land may be contaminated with radioactivity for 25,000 years.

Lost 25% of their citizens during World War II.

Has 50,000 children living in 600 orphanages. These orphanages have no hot water, no toilet paper, no soap. They receive food and staff salaries...that's ALL.

2008 Golf Tournament:
The 2008 Golf Tournament was a huge success! The weather was perfect, and we received many compliments about the organization of the day, the course and the food (Carolina BBQ Pork and Chicken). There were 17 teams of 4, over $3,000 in prizes and everyone left with something.

God truly blessed this endeavor and we raised enough money to send over 200 children to camp for two weeks! So many were so generous and we're sincerely thankful. For the past two years over 2000 children have attended camp sessions at the "Isle of Hope" camp. God Bless

The Bridge of Hope for the Belarus (pronounced "Bella-Roos") Orphans is not just another relief organization.

Our Goals:

Teach orphaned children life skills they do not have to help make a living once discharged from the orphanage.

Provide children opportunities to learn about God's love and His Son, Jesus Christ.

There are many opportunities to serve and support the Bridge of Hope for the Belarus Orphans:

Pray for them - EVERY day!
Host a child during the summer.
Support the Belarus Ministry.
Donate to help meet their basic needs such as toothpaste, toothbrushes, vitamins, soap, shampoo, paper, pencils, pens, etc.
Donate your time for Short-Term Volunteer Projects such as helping with Sports Camps, Vacation Bible Schools, Vocational Training, etc.

BHBO is in its infancy as an organization and will be slowly developed to completely meet the needs of orphaned children in Belarus and other countries. We, the organization, strictly adhere to the governing ethics and principles in soliciting, accepting, and distributing donated funds and resources for the purposes mentioned in our bylaws and mission statement.

The orphans of Belarus have little help and hope for the future. Once discharged from an orphanage at the age of 17, it is difficult to find a job, a place to live, food to eat without life skills. Most have no family or friends they can rely upon.

BHBO, Inc. provides funds, aid and resources to help the orphans develop basic life skills and job skills that will give them a chance to survive the future. This aid is distributed through local churches in Belarus in such a way that these children are presented the Gospel of Jesus Christ at the same time.

There are 50,000 children in 600 orphanages in Belarus. Most of the children are social orphans, in that they have parents, but they have been abandoned; some because of the parents alcoholism and some because the parents just don't have the means to take care of them.

One of these statistics, Sasha, (orphaned at age 2, arrested at 17 for stealing food) was told about Jesus while he was in the orphanage. He was saved and has dedicated his life to going back into the orphanages, teaching life skills, and teaching about Jesus. BHBO supports his ministry and is convinced that this will continue to grow.

We have been able to give support in several areas and ministries over the past year. We provided funds to purchase resources for use at one churches' Bible Camp this summer. We provided for the distribution of fruit by another local church to all of the children at one orphanage, and we provided school supplies that were distributed to that orphanage by the Baptist Church.

BHBO is God's corporation. The initial trip to Belarus, the orphanages that were visited, the churches that were attended, and the stories that were told, were all in His plan. The pamphlets, the videos, the testimony, and the burdened hearts were all His design. God has a mighty plan for Belarus. He wants the children there to know His Son. BHBO, Inc. is just one of God's instruments to get this done.
